The Workshop Program Committee will start this week the fast-refereeing process, aiming at providing relevant feedback about the submitted work.

The EURO Working Group on Decision Support Systems (EWG-DSS),
in cooperation with Birbeck University of London, invites you to participate
on the EWG-DSS London-2011″ Workshop on Decision Systems period of
June 23rd to June 24th, 2011.

The purpose of this Workshop is to provide an informal setting in which the
participants, professionals of the research and application areas related
to Decision Making and Decision Support, will have the opportunity to discuss
technical, methodological and social aspects for developing DSSs.

Invited Speaker:

Alex Duffy (Professor, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland)
Talk: “(to be announced)

Special Talks:

Philip Powell (Executive Dean, Professor of Management at the School of
Business, Economics and Informatics at Birkbeck, University of London)

Talk: “On-line game participation: Competition and Hedonism”

Rita Ribeiro (Founding member and Coordinator of the CA3 –
Computational Intelligence Research Group at UNINOVA, Portugal
)
Talk: “Decision Making Challenges in Space Applications”

The members of the EWG-DSS are expected to participate and to encourage
the participation of other related professionals, so that further collaboration
can be promoted on a larger scale during the workshop. The workshop will
also embed a business meeting of the Euro Working Group on DSS at its last session.

The “EWG-DSS London-2011” Workshop will take place at the School of Business,
Economics and Informatics, at Birkbeck, University of London
(Malet Street, Bloomsbury London WC1E 7HX, UK). Birbeck is located in the
heart of central London, near the British Museum and very easy to be reached by
all public means of transportation.

Abstract & Paper Submissions:

Contributions: We encourage the submission of papers addressing topics
in research and application of Decision Systems. Authors are requested
to submit either Abstracts (1 page), Short Papers (4/6 A4 pages) or Full Papers
(~ 12 A4 pages) in electronic form (MS-Word and PDF)
to the email: ewg-dss@fccdp.com up to 18/04/2011 09/05/2011.

Workshop Publications:

Special Issues of DSS Journals will be published with selected papers presented
during the “EWG-DSS London-2011 Workshop”.

Planned Publications:

  • Proceedings of the “EWG-DSS London-2011 Workshop” (Book of Abstracts),
    published in time for distribution to the workshop participants.
    Editors: Fatima Dargam, Boris Delibasic, Jorge E. Hernández, Shaofeng Liu,
    Rita Ribeiro, Pascale Zaraté.
  • Book of Post-Proceedings of the Springer Series LNBIP – Lecture Notes in Business
    Information Processing
    , Springer Publisher. This publication will consist of
    thoroughly revised and extended final papers selected from the
    “EWG-DSS London-2011 Workshop” in June 2011 and from the
    “EWG-DSS Paris-2011 Workshop” in the end of this year, in Paris.
    Guest Editors: Jorge E. Hernández, Pascale Zaraté, Fatima Dargam, Boris Delibasic,

About ewgdss

The EWG-DSS is a Working Group on Decision Support Systems within EURO, the Association of the European Operational Research Societies. The main purpose of the EWG-DSS is to establish a platform for encouraging state-of-the-art high quality research and collaboration work within the DSS community. Other aims of the EWG-DSS are to: - Encourage the exchange of information among practitioners, end-users, and researchers in the area of Decision Systems. - Enforce the networking among the DSS communities available and facilitate activities that are essential for the start-up of international cooperation research and projects. - Facilitate professional academic and industrial opportunities for its members. - Favour the development of innovative models, methods and tools in the field Decision Support and related areas. - Actively promote the interest on Decision Systems in the scientific community by organizing dedicated workshops, seminars, mini-conferences and conference streams in major conferences, as well as editing special and contributed issues in relevant scientific journals.
